How cryotherapy works

Three straightforward steps, with suitability confirmed before any treatment takes place.

2. Have the lesion assessed

A clinician examines the area and explains whether cryotherapy is suitable. Not every lesion is suitable for cryotherapy.

3. Receive treatment and aftercare advice

If appropriate, the targeted tissue is treated with controlled extreme cold and you receive clear aftercare advice.

Important safety note

Cryotherapy uses controlled extreme cold, usually liquid nitrogen, to freeze targeted tissue. Treatment pricing is confirmed after examination and depends on the size, number and type of lesions.

Cryotherapy questions, answered

Clear information before you decide whether to book.

Cryotherapy may be suitable for warts, skin tags, seborrhoeic keratoses and other benign skin lesions when clinically appropriate. It is not a treatment for cancerous or undiagnosed lesions.
You may feel a brief cold, stinging or uncomfortable sensation during treatment. Mild redness, soreness, swelling or blistering can occur temporarily afterwards.
Most appointments are brief. We explain how to care for the treated area and what to expect as it settles. Follow the advice provided and contact the team if you are concerned.
Not every lesion is suitable for cryotherapy. A clinician needs to assess the area first; referral may be recommended if the lesion is changing, bleeding, painful, infected or undiagnosed.
